Having never stepped into a gym before or having never really lifted weights it can be very overwhelming to start. Many people don’t start for the simple fact that they don’t know where to start. You don’t want to look like a fool or a wimp. The reality is most people at the gym don’t care much about how much you are lifting so very few people if any will notice that you are weak.
In fact, I myself and others at the gym will be likely to offer advice on your form for doing an exercise. There is also a directory of different exercise explanations at bodybuilding.com for you to look at pictures, videos and written explanations of numerous exercises.
As a beginner I would recommend doing exercise machines because you don’t have to have good form, but free weight exercises will have to be incorporated within the first month or two because they are more effective at building muscle because they recruit more muscle fibers.
You may also want to seek advice at the gym; this can be very helpful so that you don’t have to struggle to figure out what to do. It is also good to ask someone if you are doing an exercise correctly so that you reduce the risk of having an injury.
There are also numerous great products to help you out at Health Fitness Reports with numerous user feedback and ratings of the top bodybuilding information products on the net.
